Financing your Education Abroad

The following scholarships from other organizations may be used for SSU Study Abroad. 
  • Check the sponsor’s site for details. 
  • Be sure to check each scholarship and grant’s criteria and deadlines. 
  • This list is not exhaustive; please independently research funding for your Study Abroad experience. 

Scholarships & Grants

The Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship offers $5,000 per semester or academic year for students currently receiving federal Pell Grants. 

BUTEX offers scholarships for students who are studying in the UK. 

DAAD offers a variety of scholarships for students studying in Germany. 

DiversityAbroad.com offers multiple $500 scholarships each semester. (Be sure to check out their International Scholarships & Fellowship Directory as well.) 

Visit the Foundation Center to find your local foundation center. The Foundation center offers grants to students, academic researchers and educators. 

Freeman-ASIA provides financial support to American undergraduates to study abroad for academic credit back home during the summer, semester, or full academic year in one of 15 countries/regions in East and Southeast Asia. 

The Fulbright Foundation offers scholarships and grants.

Fund for Education Abroad (FEA) will award funds for students planning to study abroad on any academically rigorous program 

The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi awards 45 $1,000 scholarships each year to students seeking knowledge and experience in their academic fields by studying abroad (scholarships are awarded to both members and non-members). 

LIVFund Scholarships are available for students studying in Latin America; scholarships are awarded monthly. 

The National Security Education Program David. L Boren Scholarships are merit based awards that vary with program costs and financial aid status. 

The Ohio International Consortium (OIC) offers the Donald N. Nelson Scholarship for Study Abroad . 

The Ohio Foreign Language Association offers various scholarships and grants for students planning to become world language teachers. 

The Rotary International Foundation offers scholarships and grants. 

Sara’s Wish Foundation is a non-profit dedicated to supporting Safe and Rewarding Adventures for students.
